"The German standard stipulates a maximum height at the withers of 20 cm +/- 2 cm for the Toy Spitz, whereas the English standard allows 28 cm for the Pomeranian. The weight in the English standard is 1.8 to 2 kg for dogs and 2.25 to 3 kg for bitches. Of course, we have a hotly debated problem here at the moment. Because we will often find a Toy Spitz that is too large and is in the size of a Miniature Spitz or even that of a Mittel Spitz, but is typically Pomeranian in type and therefore of course does not correspond to the type required by the respective size. So far, Toy Spitzes that are too large have been reclassified, although neither the breeders nor the main board were particularly happy about it. Because the typical Miniature or Mittel Spitz is lost in this way, while the Toy Spitz breed may lose a good sire. It is definitely time to make decisions on this issue."
