Due to the relative rarity of the white Spitz on the one hand and the Samoyed dogs on the other, laypeople and experts alike are often confused by the idea that there must be a close relationship or even a breeding partnership between the two breeds. An exhibitor of white Giant Spitzes recently had to make this experience at a large international dog show, where the judge there even dismissed the world champion of his variety from the ring with a disqualification-like score. In order to justify this illogical judgement he claimed that these very large Spitzes (which is pleasing for us) are not such at all, but dogs crossed with Samoyeds.
